Non-Profit Organization

Tots Early Learning Society transitioned from being a privately operated centre to a not-for-profit Society in 1999 with a mission of providing the best quality care and learning environment for the children of East Hants. Not-for-profit organizations, like ours, are known as 'societies'. Societies do not have an 'owner', rather, they are independent, democratic organizations that are run by a Board of community volunteers. Our Board operates in compliance with the Societies Act and bylaws. Societies do not earn any profits. All revenue that comes into the centre is reinvested into the organization to support our mission and cover operating expenses.

Tots Early Learning Society has continued to maintain our fees as low as possible to ensure all community members have access to safe and affordable childcare. Our annual tuition ensures that the centres can continue to operate and provide safe childcare, however, tuition fees alone are not enough to maintain our two facilities and acquire the materials we need to operate.

Fundraising contributions support with the following:

• build and maintain playgrounds, including additional infrastructure, acquisition of more large-scale toys, maintenance of existing equipment and terrain, and improvements to accessibility.
• purchase experiential equipment.
• renovate classrooms and buildings.
• acquire toys, books, and materials to enhance classrooms.

Ways to Support

• One-Time Financial Donation
  Gifts of cash, cheques, or e-transfers are gratefully accepted.
• Monthly Donation
  A monthly commitment donation can be completed over a period based on an agreed upon payment schedule.
• In-Kind Donation
  Gift certificates, art materials, books, furniture, etc. These types of items are always welcome.
• Support our Fundraising Efforts
  We coordinate a variety of fundraisers throughout the year which we promote through our centres and social media accounts.
